The Route
We will start this amazing tour from the Smart Tour shop which is located at the beautifuly renovated First Station. After getting your bikes and helmets we will get going and head north on the new Train Track Park.
We’ll pass by the picturesque neighborhoods of Yemin Moshe and Mishkenot Shaananim on our way to the Old City. At this early hour we will get to ride through the usually busy Mamilla shoping mall with ease. At the edge of Mamilla, Jaffa gate will uppear with an unusual tranquility. This is not a usual scene at this major connection between the Old city and the new one.
We will enter the Old City through Jaffa Gate and make our way to the Curch of the Holy Seplecure. If we are lucky we will bump into some early rising pilgrims singing quitly on their way to visit Jesus’es temporary burial site. We will make a short stop for explanations here. Not to short, we have a sunrise to catch…
From the Christian Quarter we will roll on through the Via Dolorosa to our next stop, the Hurva Synagogue located at the heart of the Jewish Quarter. After a short stop here we will exit the Old City through the Zion Gate and make our way to KIng David’s Tumb and the place of the Last supper. Yes, they are actually located in the same building…
But what we are more interested about at this ealy hour, is the roof of this building. The roof has the most magnificent view of The Mount Of Olives, Mount Scopus and the Temple Mount. While sipping some good tea we’ll watch the beautiful sunrise color the Jerusalem stone in a calm gold. After hearing about some history and eating some cookies we’ll ride back to the First Station.
Now that is a good morning!
